I was talking to a friend and fellow marketer of mine Jocelyn Jones last week about how to implement teamwork into a direct sales business to build the team, and then to what extreme would you take that concept. Our conversation kept coming back to a popular networking technique called Tribe Marketing.

Tribes are a group of marketers that help promote each other’s business by commenting on their blog, tweeting about them, digging their articles, giving testimonials, rating and commenting videos on Youtube, and anything else that will help build the names of the people in their group. If done the right way this can be extremely powerful.

Finding people to work with is very easy, all you have to do is ask people you know that are in your own business opportunity, and people that are in groups on your social networking sites like Facebook or LinkedIn. Explain to them that by helping each other you build credibility in other people’s eyes and that’s what grows a solid business in this industry.

There is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The wrong way is to have a small group of 3 people and keep giving each other 2 way link backs. If you are using this technique for SEO marketing, doing it this way will completely defeat the entire purpose of what you are trying to achieve. Search engines hate this and can easily detect this activity, which can get your site blacklisted.

The right way is to get a large group of people, preferably at least 15-20. Then divide people up to help each other. For example, I decide to help promote my friend John’s content, he promotes Suzie’s, and Suzie promotes mine. See how that works? One way linking is how you improve your ranking in search engines. The more people you have in the group, the more one way link strings you can create.

Anyway, Jocelyn was telling me about her TVI Express Presidential Group and how they use the Tribe concept in an unique and highly successful way. Unlike most downline groups or teams in traditional MLM’s where they use original Tribe Marketing to build individual teams, Jocelyn’s team promotes the group and divides new members equally among the team. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a member or how many people you’ve personally recruited either.

If you are new to network marketing or just don’t know what to do, the team will even help you find you something and teach you how to do it. Everyone contributes and everyone benefits. In fact, their team motto is “No one is left behind“.

Does this really work? Just ask Mrs. Jones if it does. If you want to start a home business, you may want to consider getting into affiliate marketing.  What is affiliate marketing?  It’s simply an online arrangement where you get paid a commission for promoting another company’s wares.  You can do this through your website or through a redirected domain name.

With that being said, you might be wondering how you can get started with affiliate marketing.  Well, the process begins with a domain name.  You can buy a .com from Godaddy for only $10 a year.  And, once you have it, you can apply to most of the major affiliate marketing networks.  Many of them won’t mind if you don’t have a website yet.

In fact, it’s possible to promote affiliate links without a website.  To do this you must establish a domain name redirect, something you can usually do through your domain name manager.  Granted, you’ll have to wait a few hours for the domain name to take effect, but once the domain name has been redirected, it will point directly to your affiliate links, making things easier for promotion.

This leads to the next step, the actual promotion of your affiliate links.  You have two options here: link-building and article marketing.  If you choose link-building, you’re going to have to find webmasters willing to advertise your link.  Some advertising networks make this easy.  Adbrite is an example, where you can pay webmasters to display your affiliate links.

Of course, if you can’t afford Adbrite, you can choose reciprocal linking.  To do reciprocal linking, you can either email webmasters asking them to display your link, (in return for you displaying theirs), or you can join a reciprocal-linking network.  Link Market is an example of the latter.

The other option is article marketing, where you promote your affiliate links through articles.  To be successful with this method, you must learn how to choose Internet keywords with low competition, high traffic.  Keyword analyzers like Micro Niche Finder can help you in this endeavor.

5. RSS – Create a number of customized RSS feeds and submit them to the top RSS feed directories.  If your content is not on a site that has RSS, a service called Dapper can create an RSS from any site.  To get started post your content to sites like Squidoo,  Google Knol, HubPages, Blogger.com, Wordpress.com, Vox.com, Tumblr, Weebly, Terapad, WetPaint, PbWiki, Wikispaces, and WikiDot, to name a few.  Once you submit to these sites, grab the RSS and submit to all the different RSS directories.

6. Turn your article into a PDF – You can post PDF versions of your articles to Scribd, eSnips, DocStoc, Calameo, Issuu, Yudu, FreeIQ, and ButterflyReports.com for increased exposure.

7. Turn your content into a widget – a widget is an application that can be placed into web pages like Facebook, Myspace, etc.  Go to widgetbox.com to turn your content into a widget.  Then, you can post the widget to sites like Google Widget Directory, Yahoo Widgets, Friendster Widget Directory, and a host of other widget directories.
