I completely understand what you are going through. If you want it to be like a job a good way to treat it like one is to have the same schedule as if you were still working the corporate job. Get up at a certain time and have a set schedule. That type of routine doesn’t really work for me. Instead I work on making sure a certain number of tasks get done everyday. I have an excel spreadsheet with the things I want to get done daily and I check them off as I complete them I make sure to put the date so I can look back and review the work I’ve done for the day or week. If it looks empty I know I haven’t worked as hard as I could have. Hope that helps and thanks so much for commenting. Lets chat some time. I can help you get figure out ways to be more productive.

I am glad you read Tracy’s post too because it brought me to your article. You are so right. I feel guilty when I am not at my computer doing something “constructive”. When I worked in the corporate world I had to get up at a certain time, take a shower, eat breakfast, do my chores, etc. so why is it so hard for me to put all this into a schedule and follow it now, working from home? It seems when I am at home I can let things slide because there is no one telling I have to be there doing things at a certain time. How can I tell my brain to accept this as a job too?
